Police in Luweero are investigating a suspected murder after a 63-year-old man was attacked by unknown assailants at his home and later died from severe head injuries.

A 63-year-old man, identified as Christopher Nsubuga, has died after being violently attacked by unknown assailants at his residence in Kikubajinja Village, Luwero Town Council, in Luweero District.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of June 8, 2026, at around 9:00 pm when Nsubuga was reportedly attacked by unidentified men while at his home. The assailants allegedly struck him on the head, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Luwero Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on the morning of June 9.

The Territorial Police in Luwero have registered a case of suspected murder and deployed homicide detectives to examine the scene and gather evidence. Police also confirmed that a canine unit was dispatched to assist in tracking the suspects.

Savannah Region Police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima said investigators documented the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and collected forensic samples.

“Blood samples were extracted for DNA analysis and Form 48B was completed to facilitate a postmortem examination as investigations continue,” he said.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased sustained two deep cuts on his body. Investigators also established that Nsubuga had reportedly been experiencing domestic misunderstandings with some family members and had been living alone.

Police say a manhunt for the attackers is ongoing, with efforts underway to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible.

“The hunt for the assailants is ongoing. Efforts to apprehend and prosecute those responsible are underway,” ASP Twiineamazima added.

Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the killing are continuing.
